A representação de atores sociais em capas da revista “Raça Brasil”

ABSTRACT: There is very little research in Brazil based on the grammar of the visual design (Kress and van Leeuwen, 1996), especially research which combine other text analysis tools such as the representation of social actors (van Leeuwen, 1996). This paper aims at an interface of both approaches. Combining theories and methods of both, it focuses on the analysis of the representation of social actors on the front cover of two editions of the magazine ‘Raça Brasil’. Results of a preliminary analysis suggest representations of both social actors and readership in the magazines under scrutiny are different racial representations as well.

RESUMO: No contexto brasileiro, a pesquisa baseada na gramática do design visual (Kress e van Leeuwen, 1996) é ainda incipiente, especialmente se complementada por outra abordagem de análise textual de base sistêmica, como a teoria da representação dos atores sociais (van Leeuwen, 1996). O presente trabalho busca contribuir para a interface das referidas abordagens nesse contexto. Aliando seus pressupostos teórico-metodológicos, o objetivo desta pesquisa é analisar representações de atores sociais nas capas de duas edições da revista “ Raça Brasil”. Os resultados desta análise preliminar apontam para representações distintas dos atores sociais nas e construções distintas do público leitor das revistas analisadas.
