Movimentos milenaristas aguardam uma libertação iminente, coletiva e total, geralmente, mas não exclusivamente, dentro deste mundo. Esta libertação implica na fundação de uma era perfeita ou de um reino perfeito, e a construção de um "Homo Novus". Os chamados cargo-cults da Melanésia ou da Nova Guiné, por exemplo, relacionam a aurora de um estado de bem estar material, organizacional e espiritual, à expectativa de abundância de bens sobrenaturalmente adquiridos, que são transformados na característica central da "manifestação do milênio" (Trompf). Em muitos novos movimentos religiosos contemporâneos, intervenções apocalípticas por alienígenas e UFOS são a crença central. Em meio às esperanças de retorno à um paraíso perdido, também se encontram eexpectativas de tipo "cargoísticas": suprimentos alienígenas e "tecnologias sobrenaturais", somadas à aquisição de faculdades espirituais paranormais como telepatia e bilocação, podem exercer um forte charme exótico. As diferentes expressões dessas esperanças "cargoísticas", trazem luz às idéias cosmológicas subjacentes, que freqüentemente incorporam padrões apocalípticos, pré-milenaristas ou pós-milenaristas, das tradições do cristianismo. Por um lado, existem crentes em UFOS que esperam uma salvação iminente neste mundo, através de transferência extraterrestre de tecnologia e espiritualidade: milhões de naves espaciais "descerão", "e a Terra será transformada rapidamente, em um paraíso fora de qualquer possibilidade de comparação. Millenarian movements await an imminent, collective and ultimate liberation, usually (but not exclusively) within this world. This liberation implies the founding of a perfect age or pure country or kingdom, and the construction of a Homo Novus. In a similar way, the so-called "Cargo-Cults" of Melanesia or New Guinea relate to a dawning state of material, organisational and spiritual well-being, and the expected abundance of supernaturally acquired supplies can be turned into the central characteristic of the "manifestation of the Millennium" (Trompf). In many contemporary New Religious Movements, apocalyptic interventions by "space aliens" and UFOs form a central belief. Amidst hopes for a restitution of the lost paradise, one can also find expectations of the cargoist type: alien "supplies" and supernatural "technologies", together with paranormal spiritual faculties like telepathy and bilocation, can exercise a strong exotic charm. The different expressions of such cargoistic hopes shed light on the underlying cosmological framework, which often incorporates basic patterns of the apocalyptic (pre-millennial or post-millennial) traditions of Christianity. On the one hand, there are UFO believers who expect an imminent salvation within this world by means of an extraterrestrial transfer of technology and spirituality: millions of space ships "will descend", and "Earth is to be transformed, quickly, into a paradise beyond compare ... Heaven on Earth" (The Ground Crew Project; cf. Ashtar Command, etc.). Only a short rapture or Big Beam into the flying saucers will be necessary to secure the earthly humans during the metamorphosis of "Mother Earth". But finally, there will be an overwhelming physical and spiritual abundance on this precious intergalactic "showcase". On the other hand, the "Away Team" of the UFO group Heaven's Gate waited for the imminent departure and "relocation" to an extraterrestrial "Kingdom of the Heavens": "my Father's Kingdom moves or travels in spacecrafts". Here, only the chosen few are able to leave this death-bound earth before it is "recycled". Like in a cosmic computer game, they have to be 'beamed up' or "saved" to the Next Level, before the programme of this 'virtual' holographic world is "canceled" or "rebooted". Since the liberating "disconnect!" implies a salvation from this world, there is no room for any worldchanging cargoism.

Des suppléments extra-terrestres et des "technologies surnaturelles" additionnées à l’acquisition de facultés spirituelles paranormales comme la télépathie et le don de "double présence" peuvent exercer un fort charme exotique. Les diverses expressions de ces espoirs "cargoísticos" aportent de lumière aux idées cosmologiques subjacentes qui incorporent souvent des modèles apocalyptiques, pré et post-millénaires de traditions du Christianisme. D’un côté, il y a des croyants dans des UFOS qui espèrent un salut imminent dans ce monde par le transfert extra-terrestre de technologie et de spiritualité: De milliers des nefs spatiales "descendront", "et la Terre sera transformée rapidement dans un paradis sans aucune possibilité de camparaison. D’un autre côté, le "team de l’autre niveau" du groupe de l’UFO "Porte des Cieux" attendait le départ imminente, le transfert pour le "Royaume des Cieux" extra-terrestre. Le Royaume de mon Père se meut et voyage dans des nefs spatiales. Ici seulement quelques élus sont aptes à abandonner la terre, qui sera détruite, avant qu’elle soit "recyclée". Comme dans un jeu d’ordinateur cosmique, ils seront transportés, ou "sauvés" pour le "Prochain Niveau", avant que le programme de ce monde virtuel et d’holographie soit annulé ou recommencé. Une fois que la libération est d’être "dénoué", elle est un salut de ce monde et il n’existe pas aucun "cargoísmo" destiné à la transformation du monde".

Millenaristische Bewegungen erwarten eine nahe bevorstehende, kollektive und letztgültige Erlösung (meist) innerhalb dieser Welt: Impliziert ist hierbei die kosmologische Vorstellung eines perfekten Zeitalters, Landes oder Reiches, sowie die Konstruktion eines homo novus. Ähnlich geht es den so genannten »Cargo-Kulten« Melanesiens oder Neu Guineas um ein materielles, organisatorisches und spirituelles Wohlergehen, und der ersehnte Überfluss an Gütern, die auf übernatürliche Weise erlangt werden, kann als das zentrale Charakteristikum der „Manifestation des Millenniums" erscheinen (Trompf). – Im Glauben vieler zeitgenössischer neureligiöser Bewegungen spielen apokalyptische Eingriffe von „Außerirdischen" eine zentrale Rolle. Neben Hoffnungen auf die Wiederherstellung des verlorenen Paradieses finden sich auch cargoistische Vorstellungen: Außerirdische „Waren", übernatürliche „Technologien", aber auch paranormale geistige Fähigkeiten wie Telepathie und Bilokation, können hier einen starken exotischen Reiz ausüben. Die unterschiedliche Ausdrucksweise dieser cargoistischen Hoffnungen wirft aber auch ein deutliches Licht auf das jeweils zugrunde liegende Weltbild, in dem vielfach Grundelemente der apokalyptischen (prä- oder post-millenaristischen) Traditionen des Christentums inkorporiert wurden.

Auf der einen Seite gibt es hier nämlich UFO-Gläubige, die an eine nahe bevorstehende innerweltliche Erlösung im Zusammenhang des außerirdischen Spiritualitäts- und Technologietransfers glauben: Millionen Raumschiffe „werden herabkommen" und die „Erde wird schnell in ein unvergleichliches Paradies verwandelt werden ... ein Himmel auf Erden" (The Ground Crew Project, cf. Ashtar Command). Nur ein kurzer Aufenthalt oder Big Beam in die fliegenden Untertassen wird nötig sein, um die irdischen Menschen während der großen Umwandlung von „Mutter Erde" zu schützen. Am Ende wird jedoch ein überwältigender materieller und spiritueller Reichtum auf diesem kostbaren intergalaktischen Prunkstück herrschen.

In anderen Fällen – wie etwa bei der UFO-Gemeinschaft Heaven’s Gate mit ihrem irdischen Away Team – wird die baldige Abreise und endgültige „Rückführung" in ein extraterrestrisches „Himmlisches Königreich" erwartet („my Father’s Kingdom moves in spacecrafts"). Doch nur einer spirituellen Elite ist es möglich, diese todgeweihte Erde zu verlassen, bevor sie einem endgültigen „Recycling" zugeführt wird. Wie in einem kosmischen Computerspiel müssen sie auf den Nächsten Level „gebeamt" oder „gerettet" werden, bevor das Programm dieser ‚virtuellen’ holographischen Welt „abgebrochen" bzw. „neu gebootet" wird. Da der befreiende „Disconnect" eine Rettung von der Welt impliziert, gibt es hier auch keinen Platz mehr für irgendwelche weltverändernde Cargoismen.
