She holds a PhD in International Relations from the San Tiago Dantas Graduate Program in International Relations (UNESP, UNICAMP, PUC-SP) and a masters in International Relations from University of São Paulo (USP). She graduated in International Relations also at University of São Paulo (USP). She is an International Relations Professor at IBMEC-SP, a researcher at Transnational Security Studies Center (NETS) and a researcher at International Conflicts Studies Group (GECI/PUC-SP). Mariana's research focuses on security governance, particularly on countering international terrorism financing and its institutional dimensions. As part of this agenda, she also invests in research on countering financial crimes associated with transnational organized crime, such as money laundering and corruption.
