Deterritorialization
In the fragmented and indeterminate space of the contemporary metropolis there are not points or positions, as in a structure. Here there are only lines. Train tracks and expressways cross the area in all directions. Lines that delimit nothing, without inside nor outside, form or background, start or end. We can go for all direction: the possible passages are innumerable. Just movements, speeds or slowness, is needed to remake a space without landmarks or references. The railroad ways and the expressways, systems that traditionally structure the urban territory, do not organize the space anymore. The line is set free of the point: it does not go from a point to another, but it passes between them. As the satellites and the radars scanning lines, it covers the space; it does not draw contour. The lines do not operate as borders. Here everything is distributed in an open space, throughout passages. Multiple passage alternatives are traced that if cross with the existing traffic patterns. Crossings and transpositions that trace another web, converting the area into a surface of intense and multidirectional transit. A kaleidoscopic of continuous variations, changes of direction, differentials of speed, retards and accelerations.
