MG/ES aims at to investigate and develop projects _ urban, architectural, artistic _ for the macro-region located between Belo Horizonte (MG) and Vitória (ES), in Brazil. A complex and dynamic infrastructural system, where the implantation of mines, steel industries, reforestation projects, ports and railways conforms the territory. An operational device that articulates extraction, industrial processing, distribution, exportation and flows of capital, with international scope. An industrial, informational and logistic infrastructure that, becoming more flexible and market-oriented, deeply affects the local urban situations and environment, leading to the emerge of new and unusual configurations. A territory where the conditions of the global integration of Brazil are, to a large extent, being played.

With globalization, the infrastructure accumulates new processes, including informational, and scales. New dimensions gain strategic relevance: regional systems with world-wide span. A complex combination of local structures and global reach. The impacts of the rescaling affect the entire territory. These connections reach very large geographic distance, constituting a space of global insertion.

How to apprehend the emergency of new urban and territorial configurations, due to the transformations of this system? Which procedures of mapping and action can be developed for these complex and abstract processes, otherwise inaccessible to our individual experience? Exploring affiliations between discontinuous elements, by the incorporation of locations and programs, urban forces and infrastructures, to allow unexpected and transforming connections. Establishing principles to organize large-scale programs, processes of negotiation between multiples agents within complex fields in continuous transformation. To develop new political, urban and artistic repertoire for interventions in large territories. MG/ES searches to detect and intensify these new dynamics and configurations.
