Vila Velha port sector and its areas of railroad and offshore facilities in Cariacica are marked by poor accessibility, absence of urban conditions in areas densely populated and intense load traffic. They are areas of informal occupation expansion or sites kept for future productive activities. Old industrial territories currently rearticulated by the load transportation logistic and infrastructure for Vitória port complex.
The occupation of environmentaly protected areas by big companies ports and offshore facilities and informal habitation produces great urban and environmental impact. Critical spaces crossed by intense flow of load transport, filled by low income urban occupation and support services activities. Many quarters had grown through occupation of the hillsides, lands under flood risk and slumming.
Cariacica urban dynamics is given by the infrastructure areas of storage, loads movement and support to the port activities. It is a commerce and offshore services region. The area is served by an intermodal load transportation system linked to the ports of Vitória, Tubarão and, in the future, Ubu. The interstitial spaces can be revitalized by the expansion of the logistic activities in Cariacica, optimizing the international commerce operations.
