The port system of Espirito Santo, a chain of ports and terminals, answers for 30% of the load volume put into motion by the national ports. They are 6 ports, with 12 terminals. The Port of Vitória is public, operated by CODESA, and works mainly with grains. It has 13 mooring cradles and 16,200 m2 of warehouses. The Vila Velha terminal, operated by CVRD, works with containers and general loads.

The Port of Tubarão, operated by CVRD, has piers for iron ore embarkment and terminals for containers, general loads and grains. It gates boats up to 300 thousand tons. The embarkment capacity is 80 million tons / year. Praia Mole Port is operated by several steel companies.

Port of Ubu, 60 km at the south of Vitória, is a private terminal of Samarco, controled by CVRD. It has two cradles and operates only with iron ore and pellets. Barra do Riacho Port has a terminal specialized in cellulose embarkment, exported by Cenibra and Aracruz.

The railroad and logistic integration tends to constitute a large port complex. The ports are radically affected in its configurations and functions, shaping the whole metropolitan and regional space. The mining and steel production chain in the region is also served by the ports of Sepetiba (RJ) and Santos (SP).
